Fox News

Video

I helped Fox News with their coverage of the Concerned Student 1950 protests and the events that transpired at the University of Missouri campus during the week of November 11. I provided live coverage at multiple media conferences, took photos published nationally and got various reaction SOT's.

I also helped coordinate coverage with Matt Finn, a national correspondent based out of the Fox News Chicago Bureau, to break the complicated story down for him. It's a tale with many moving parts and I was able to give Finn the history of how it happened. Fox News owns all of the rights to the above video.

Virtual Reality

I am constantly looking for new ways to tell stories. One of the newest mediums to do this is through virtual reality and 360 degree video. I am a reproter and research assistant for Mizzou Virtual Reality, a unit within the Missouri School of Journalism. I produce virtual reality content by using a Ricoh Theta S and other specialized cameras. I edit using Adobe Premiere and other applications designed for 360 video production. I examine practices in the industry and blog about experiences with new technology in the virtual reality realm. Finally, I am a member of StoryUp Studio's Brain Trust. I represent the brand and show new users how to use virtual reality.

I explored the competitive tradition of stepping and strolling with the men of Alpha Phi Alpha, one of the historically black fraternities at MU. Phelan Simpkins, president of Alpha Phi Alpha, said stepping is rooted back to African celebrations where people would make beats with their hands and feet. I took the lead in shooting and editing this feature for the Columbia Missourian. It was published on 03/21/16. I recommend viewing the video in Chrome to get the full effect.

MizzouThon is a 13.1 hour dance marathon designed to raise money for the MU Women's and Children's hospital. They raised $276,664.11 and I was there

Anchoring

The most recent compilation of my anchor reads.

Radio and Photography

I generate various content for a multimedia reporting class. Projects can include photography, video and audio elements.

The Montgomery County R-VI School District is using a creative solution to fix an education problem in mid-Missouri. I took the photo with a D7000 and compiled all of the elements using Adobe Audition. It was created with producers Shuya Zheng and Chelsea Vaughn.

Melissa Poelling "loves her craft." I took the photos with a D7000 and compiled all of the elements using Adobe Audition and Photoshop.

Mobile Journalism

I have used an iPad Mini and various applications to create content for ESPNU Campus Connection and RTDNA. An example is an interactive presentation that I made with Nina Amedin for a journalism class. It guides the reader through the process one florist shop uses to grow its product. A major contribution to the project was the audio slideshow, and I also took pictures and wrote a portion of the narrative.
